چکیده
Background Leprosy is one of the neglected tropical diseases (NTD) experiencing relative stagnancy in global number new cases. Objective This study aims to find proportion antimicrobial resistance clinical specimens leprosy patients attending a tertiary care Institute South India. Materials and methods Skin biopsy (31 Nos) were tested by Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for identification M. leprae, PCR followed DNA sequencing (AMR) detection. Results All 31 leprae positive. Resistance dapsone was 6.5%, while rifampicin ofloxacin showed 100% sensitivity. Conclusion warrants need vigilant surveillance mechanism monitor trend leprosy.

Assessment of vocation of rifabutin and rifapentine in replace of rifampcin in drug resistance leprosy patients: a molecular simulation study
The emergence of drug resistance in leprosy is a major hurdle in leprosy elimination programme. Although the problem of drug resistance is presently not acute, it is important that we collect data more systematically and monitor the trend carefully so that effective measures to combat this problem can be developed. The present study aimed at the explication of cross resistance of rifabutin and ...

Implementation of multidrug therapy (MDT) in leprosy control programmes has significantly reduced the global prevalence of the disease in the last two decades. After many years of use of MDT, it is expected that drug resistance in Mycobacterium leprae may emerge. This is a major concern, especially during the stage of elimination. In the present study, slit-skin smears were collected from 140 l...
